Please "like" our ABA Leaks Facebook page where the truth about ABA will shut them down as we teach parents of our young autistic peers about autistic-led and autistic-approved alternatives to Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) doggie-treat-bribes and facial-water-spray obedience trainings.
[June 28, 2016. Editorial postscript.... I maintain the original title and body to this entry. remains the same. I add this [topmost postscript] tonight.
[Since I published this post on January 22, 2016 and after analyzing the Twitter profiles in question (See below.), I have today decided that this so-called British "Positive Behavioural Supports (PBS)" group deserves no praise whatsoever here, even though I had, at first, deluded myself into believing that the British PBS behaviourists behave in an empathetic manner.
[My subsequent Twitter follow/follow-back analysis, as well as first-hand experience with the LD Nurses over there in England, who shall NOT remain anonymous, showed me the error of my ways. I eventually learned I was wrong in the original body of this post, which I keep unadulterated here below from the day when I originally praised PBS England for issuing a statement against pain. They never specifically addressed ABA's extremely painful electric skin shock, which all ABA supports, which they won't touch officially with a ten foot pole, the whole lot of ABA folks.
[Jo Pyrah of this British PBS Facebook group invited me in to join them so that I may teach them all about Canton, Massachusetts' Judge Rotenberg Center's (JRC's) extremely painful ABA electric skin shock.
[I told Pyrah's group about how years ago, the gay coffeehouse community in my old hometown, Red Bank, New Jersey shunned me right out of their group, after I introduced them all to one another. I led it, David Altier(i), the biggest party outside the bars New Jersey gays ever knew, 70 people counted every Wednesday for two full years. A friend told me the group gossiped about me by saying I was staring, when indeed I was just looking.
[I also told Pyrah's group about another time. For ten years, I spoke with an old friend at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey on a Sex and Disability panel for Dr. Ralph Donofrio's Human Sexuality class. Students wrote reviews of our MOCEANS Center for Independent Living Disability Awareness Through Education (D.A.T.E) program to his students. Ralph let us read their reviews of our discussion. One young lady said she did not like the way I looked away from her.
[So I couldn't win looking and I couldn't win looking away. When I recounted this story to Pyrah's group, this so-called "PBS" guy named Jonathan Beebee, an administrator of the group, told me publicly in this FB timeline that I should be punished for weak eye contact. So I blocked Beebee out of my Facebook, but he could monitor my next posts to the UK PBS group. He deleted them one by one. I left the group. Years ago I messaged Pyrah that he let me down. What did he say? Nothing. He preferred, in ABA style to extinguish my verbal behavior by ignoring me, so it seemed. LaVigna and Donnellan (1986), however, rule out ABA's extinction strategy as unnecessary and therefore unethical in their "Old Testament to PBS, Alternatives to Punishment.]
[The other time ABA provoked my anger occurred when the Applied Behavior Analysis and the Ass. of Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) Facebook groups of 10,000+ members each ostracized me without saying exactly why. This happened as soon I uncovered and disseminated a .pdf of ABA International's (ABAI) annual convention program book. In it ABAI (2015, p. 26) said it officially "approved" JRC's extremely painful electric skin shock as being "aligned" with ABAI's "mission," in their very own words! So I said to the anonymous profile ABAI Post, how about you save your reputation and invite us autistics to speak at your next convention to oppose extremely painful electric ABA skin shock? As soon as I said that, immediately, Maria Malott, CEO of ABAI, as the buck stops on top, pulled her strings and ABAI Post anonymously banned blocked me right out of that mammoth network of behaviour control freaks.
[Anyhow I told Pyrah, who had invited me into his PBS UK group that he never treated me like an invited guest. I'm still waiting for his reply. His Twitter is @JoPyrah. Look at who Jo Pyrah follows in his Twitter. His following list is full of LD nurses alleging they do non-aversive PBS, with all kinds of minor and major ABA characters, with the mammoth ABAI profile, with other insignificant ABA organizations, and even with the accounts of Judge Rotenberg Center skin shock board members Josh Pritchard, BCBA, and Dick Malott.
[PBS theory, but not in practice and ABA have a wall of punitive techniques that should separate them. PBS rules them out as unnecessary and therefore unethical, but the ABA pseudoscience cult is addicted to punishment-run-amok as are the USA and other governments. See the first section here I call: "Prerequisite argument: Applied Behavioural Analysis (Analy$i$) (ABA) is NOT Positive Behavioural Supports (PBS)."
[So when I read that UK PBS people issued a statement against pain, I praised them in the original post, the body of this post outside the [brackets]. The statement against Applied Behavioural Analysis' (ABA's) "pain" methods I was talking about in this original post title and body. They tricked me. If they can trick a leading ABA opponent, then they can trick the entire Kingdom, perhaps, but hopefully not.
[ABA knows the autistic-led Neurodiversity Movement wants ABA to go away and to leave us alone. It knows we especially hate ABA/JRC skin shock pain torture. It doesn't care. It's a huge industry (See Dawson, 2004.) that began with Lovaas shocking, slapping, and humiliating Pamela, a nine-year-old autistic girl whom he portrayed in Life Magazine as a freaky autistic deviant. Lovaas not only tried to make autistics "normal," he also tried to turn nice boys macho so they wouldn't be gay, as actually autistic researcher Michelle (Dawson, 2004) reported Lovaas UCLA Feminine Boy Project.
This is the skin shock that UK's ABA disguised as a PBS Trojan Horse gift from the USA to Britain could not specifically reject:

Original post praising the UK ABA/PBS Group
We have some concrete success, advocates against the Canton, Massachusetts Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) extremely painful electric skin shock!
A United Kingdom ABA organization has just shunned ABA's punishment run amok and turned toward the Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) position that coercive punitive techniques are unnecessary and therefore unethical.
Actual autistics, schizophrenics, dyslexics, ADHD folks, slow learners (who are often very smart), inner city youth, and our allies have just won a major European victory, in my opinion!
ABA dissemination has been recently extending its clutches from the USA into Great Britain. We have been warning the island by validly and correctly associating ABA with its damaging organizational support of skin shock!
The Association for #BehaviorAnalysis International officially "approved" the JRC skin shock pain institution soon after the U.N. called it "torture."
Kudos to UK PBS advocates, too! #PBIS
As far as I know, since writing on behavior science ethics on my blog since 2007, here is the only official ABA statement against skin shock I have ever seen. It does not specifically mention shock, but it's in the language loud and clear!
