I'm Happy to Say I'm Published Again

Truthout included a condensed version of my Op-Ed opposing the mental health gun check database January 15, 2013 in their Speakout page, which is a "treasure chest for bloggy, quirky, personally reflective, or especially activism-focused pieces." They publish "fearless, independent news and opinions." They featured on the front page that day a Second Amendment analysis by Thom Hartmann, a progressive syndicated radio talk show host. For the long version of the essay, see the previous post.

Please share it with your family, friends, colleagues, and followers. Schizophrenics are people too, with feelings that are hurt by this media blitz against them. Will a powerful national leader ever speak out and defend us?

I am an advocate for people with disabilities certified to teach special education with a Master of Arts in Teaching. I am not a Licensed Psychologist or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. When in doubt, seek the advice of an MD, a PhD, or a BCBA. My ability to analyze the ethics of ABA stems from the fact that I am disabled and ABA interventions are often done to people like me, which I voluntarily accept, but only when I alone am the person granting consent, and not a parent, sibling, guardian, or institution.
